About Polar-Honey and our Products

Where does Polar-Honey honey come from?

Polar-Honey is a Finnish family business with roots in the village of Lappi near Rauma. Our honey is Finnish natural honey collected by bees from the clean Finnish countryside. Some of our specialty honeys also come from Northern Finland and the Arctic Circle region, where unique growing conditions create a distinctive aroma and flavor.

Is your honey real honey? Has it been heated or pasteurized?

We do not add anything to our natural honeys, and our cold-creamed honey is always 100% genuine honey. We do not pasteurize our honey, add sugar or heat it to harmful temperatures. This helps preserve honey’s natural enzymes, antioxidants, and other valuable properties.

Why are some of your honey products more expensive?

The price of honey is influenced especially by its origin, availability, and production method. Some of our honeys come from Northern Finland and the Arctic Circle region, where the short but intense summer, midnight sun, and pure nature give the honey its unique taste and aroma.

Why is a certain honey or product out of stock?

The availability of different honeys varies every year. Weather conditions, flowering periods, and the success of the harvest season all affect how much honey can be produced. Some specialty honeys may only be available in very limited quantities in certain years. The availability of ingredients used in honey products may also vary, which can affect product availability.

We aim to restock products whenever new harvests and ingredients become available. We recommend following our online store and current news for updates on new batches.

Do discounted products have a short shelf life?

Our discounted products generally do not have an unusually short shelf life. Honey products often still have around a year or more remaining before the best-before date. Many offers are related to seasonal products, campaigns, or surplus stock. If a product has an especially short best-before date or another important note, it is always clearly mentioned on the product page in the online store.

Can I order multiple discounted products?

Usually there is no separate maximum quantity for discounted products. You may order products as long as they are available in stock. In some cases, availability is only limited by stock levels or the size of a special batch.

Why do we use plastic jars for our honey?

We mainly use plastic jars for practicality, safety, and transportability. Plastic jars are lightweight and durable, helping products remain intact during transport, especially for market event sales and online store deliveries.

Lighter packaging also helps reduce transport weight and therefore transport-related emissions. In addition, plastic jars are easily recyclable when sorted according to local recycling instructions.

We want to choose packaging that works as well as possible both for product preservation and online store deliveries. Honey is also pleasant and safe to use from a lightweight, easy-to-handle jar.

We also offer honey in glass jars for customers who prefer traditional glass packaging.

Can honey jars be recycled?

Yes. Our honey jars are recyclable, and empty, rinsed plastic and glass jars can be sorted according to local recycling guidelines.

Empty honey jars are great for storing dry goods, craft supplies, or small items. We recommend washing the jar with warm water before reusing or recycling it.
