While in the Southern and Western regions of Finland not much snow fell over Christmas, the Northern regions are having a lot. Up North we got the chance to enjoy the snow-covered trees, white fields, and a beautiful full moon, as well as the dancing of the Northern Lights. A more than welcome sight, given the usual darkness of the winter days. The shortest day of the year has now passed, and we are slowly getting closer to the long days, where the sun won’t set.
Us Finns love our Mökkis (holiday cottages) and the Sauna. Many even swear that taking a bath in a hole in the ice is a fantastic experience. During the pandemic people started showing increased interest in all kinds of outdoor sports, such as skiing and walking on so called snowshoes. The wide Finnish wilderness offers a unique experience of being able to follow your outdoor interests, while also listening to the sounds of nature, without having to worry about any kind of disturbance.
We wish all of you a happy new year 2022!
